Findings/Key points
In response to the continued increase in unregulated drug-related deaths throughout British Columbia, the chief coroner convened a death review panel in December 2022. This panel was tasked with providing ongoing advice related to public health and safety and the prevention of deaths caused by the unregulated drug supply. Reaffirming the need for a comprehensive strategy to address the ongoing crisis, the panel focused on short-term priorities intended to significantly reduce preventable deaths caused by the unregulated drug supply.
