Objective

This toolkit emerges from a series of virtual Community Conversations that the Drug Policy Alliance co-hosted in 2021 with key community partners: Michigan Users Union, New England Users Union, National Survivors Union, and the Pan-American Network of Drug User Activists. Over the past several years, this toolkit was complied in response to the needs that were presented during the Community Conversations. People told us they wanted resources, they needed discussion guides to facilitate their own conversations about safer supply, and they requested tips for how to talk to the media about safer supply. The Drug Policy Alliance listened and got their feedback on early drafts to make sure it delivered what they wanted.

Findings/Key points

This tool kit is composed of four parts: 1) an executive summary, 2) a key strategies document and resource list, 3) a media guide, and 4) discussion guides for communities and healthcare professionals.
