New methadone products: Information for people on methadone

Generic methadone has been added to the ODB formulary. META:PHI undertook a very quick consultation process with community advisors to create these two communication documents, intended for health care providers and for people on methadone. These documents reflect what we heard from health care providers (pharmacists, physicians, nurses and nurse practitioners) and from people on/with experience of  methadone about the important messages to be communicated. We heard clearly that people on methadone want information about changes affecting them  - ideally before changes are implemented - and want to be involved in decisions about their care whenever possible. They want honest information, and they want to know their options.
