Objective

For a year, DULF has run a Cocaine, Heroin, Methamphetamine Compassion Club pilot program. People Who Use Drugs (PWUD) enroll as members, which grants them the ability to procure up to 14 grams of each substance per week. Eligibility requirements include prior usage of the club's provided substances, affiliation with established drug user networks (to verify existing substance use), and a minimum age of 19. Substances are tested and labelled prior to sale to prevent harm to club members. The club operates for days per week for a total of 24 hours and includes an on-site Overdose Prevention Site accessible to all members.

Findings/Key points

This report presents preliminary descriptive findings from the one-year mark, shedding light on critical issues including overdose incidents, engagement in crime, housing conditions, and participant perspectives.

Design/methods

DULF has been systematically collecting data from program participants at three-month intervals for periods ranging from three to six months prior to membership and three months to one year with club access.
