Objective
This study sought to compare palliative care provision for decedents with and without Opioid Use Disorder (OUD).
Findings/Key points
People with OUD are less likely to receive palliative care in communities during the 90 days before death.
Design/methods
A cohort study was conducted using health administrative databases in Ontario, Canada, to identify people who died between July 1, 2015, and Dec. 31, 2021. The exposure was OUD. Secondary outcomes included setting, initiation, and intensity of palliative care.
