Findings/Key points

This presentation is geared towards prescribers managing acute pain care of patients with Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) in Emergency Departments (ED). The learning objectives are:

  1. Highlight the differences in pain experience and management of patients with Opioid Use Disorder (OUD).
  2. Review an approach to pain management in the ED, including ordering opioids.
  3. Discuss an approach to specific scenarios, such as patients on buprenorphine and injectable Opioid Agonist Therapy (iOAT).
