PHO Rounds: Opioid Toxicity Among Ontarians Who Worked in the Construction Industry

Ontario continues to face escalating rates of opioid-related toxicity, and people working in the construction industry are disproportionately impacted. The Ontario Drug Policy Research Network, The Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario/Ontario Forensic Pathology Service, and Public Health Ontario have completed a new report that shares findings on the characteristics and circumstances of opioid toxicity deaths among people working in the construction industry. This session summarizes the key findings of the report and the implications for practice by first providing an overview of the report findings. This is followed by a discussion on opportunities to tailor strategies that aim to prevent harm and better support people who use drugs in the construction industry.
